[RATED G] for All Audiences

The Candlelight's production of GODSPELL is set on a Habitat for Humanity project site, where ten people from all walks of life have donated their time to a Habitat construction project in their community. Set here on the Front Range, the show begins with the parables and teachings of Jesus presented in fun and inventive ways using improvisation, song, dance and references to local events and places. The show culminates with the emotion and strength of the Passion and the continuation of Jesus and his teachings.

From the composer of WICKED and Disney's POCAHONTAS, MULAN, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, and ENCHANTED, GODSPELL is one of Broadway's most enduring shows of all time. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz, GODSPELL is the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love that has touched theatergoers all over the world.

    Habitat for Humanity
An inspirational show with a pertinent message for all ages, this production of GODSPELL is a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Colorado. As an ecumenical nonprofit organization with a Christian ministry, the mission statement of Habitat for Humanity International echoes the message of this production of GODSPELL.

“Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity
brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.”

Habitat for Humanity envisions a world where everyone has a place to call home. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner partner families. As 2012 comes to a close, Habitat for Humanity will complete construction on its 200th home in Colorado. Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people who build more than houses. By bringing homeowners together with volunteers, donors, community leaders, foundations, churches, and hundreds of other supporters, Habitat builds stable families, safe neighborhoods, caring communities and a spirit of renewal. People from all backgrounds, races, and religions are welcomed to join together in this powerful partnership. Get involved with Habitat for Humanity in your region to help transform lives. ABOUT OUR PRODUCTION - GODSPELL is a show about nine random people brought together to form a community. Each production is truly unique in its approach and concept which is encouraged by the authors. In our production we happened to choose the idea of a Habitat for Humanity construction site. The more we found out about Habitat for Humanity the more we realized what a wonderful fit and vehicle it would be for our show, like hand in glove. The show begins with the controlled chaos of ‘The Tower of Babble’ demonstrating the demise of communication and community on every level, an every man for himself way of thinking and culminates in the building of a community. The parallels are between Godspell and Habitat for Humanity are numerous and quite obvious. The strong sense of community awareness that GODSPELL stresses throughout is the exact same sense of community awareness that Habitat for Humanity stresses in its organization. Our production of GODSPELL tries to convey this Brotherly love, if you will, throughout. The teachings of Jesus are forefront and the messages behind them are pertinent to all no matter what your religious beliefs. We have tried to bring them into today’s world and relate them to today’s lifestyles. We hope to bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart with our production.
