Ali K Meyers has worked as an actress, choreographer and director in the Denver/ Boulder area for the last 22 years. She has also worked with various children’s theatre programs as well as choreographer/ director for Platt Middle School and Silver Creek High School. Ali is thrilled to be a part of Candlelight’s learning center, bringing musical theatre education to young performers, and giving them the tools to advance into a theatrical career.
Sky Cash has had the pleasure of educating young minds in theatre arts across the nation for over 15 years. Teaching ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and musical theatre classes throughout her career has increased her awareness and potential in her own performing endeavours. Recently, she has had a prominent role as a choreographer working with local middle and high schools as well as professional theatre.
Scotty Shaffer has been a theatre professional in Northern Colorado since 2003. Using his degree from UNC in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting and Directing, he has worked with the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, Midtown Arts Center, Union Colony Dinner Theatre, Up In Lights, and more. For the past 17 years he has also enjoyed teaching students ranging from ages 3 to adults. Teaching several years at ABC Child Development Centers in Greeley, specializing in science, music and public speaking, he has found great joy in enriching the lives of others. Scotty is thrilled for this opportunity to combine his proficiency in teaching with his joy of theatre!
A college professor for the last 14 years, David Wygant holds a BFA in acting from the SUNY Purchase Theatre Conservatory as well as an MA in Theatre and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts-Theatre from Texas Tech University. With extensive experience teaching at the college and university level throughout Colorado, David specializes in Voice/Speech/Dialects, Acting, Directing, Theatre History/Theory/Criticism, and Arts Administration. Besides his work as a professional actor and Dialect Coach, he currently works as an Adjunct Professor at Front Range Community College and the Community College of Aurora.
Heather McClain has been performing at the Candlelight for over 4 years now, and is excited to be a part of the teaching staff of the Theatre Learning Center as well. Heather began teaching and choreographing children in musicals at the age of 14. She successfully directed her own competitive show choir throughout high school in Wisconsin, and has won several awards for her choreography. From 2004-2009, Heather owned and taught dance at her own dance studio in the Frederick/Firestone/Dacono area. In 2010 and 2014, Heather acted as Assistant Choreographer for the Kids From Wisconsin, a touring group made up of a hand selected group of 33 singer/dancers ages 15-20 from the state of Wisconsin, with demonstrated talent in musical performance. Heather is delighted to share her experience and knowledge of Musical Theatre with Colorado’s future generations of performers!
Kent Sugg has been involved with educational administration and teaching for twenty years. He was Assistant Professor of Theater Arts at Maharishi International University and Dean of Students at Maharishi Private School. In addition he has been an actor, director, and producer in professional theater off-and-on for over forty years. Kent has worked with youth of all ages in numerous play productions; acting with them, directing them, and collaborating with them. Having been a part of the Candlelight family for six years, he is excited to be a founding member of the faculty of the new Learning Center.
Neal Dunfee has been a professional musician and teacher for over 30 years. He is the Music Director at BDT Stage and teaches piano at his studio in Lyons, Colorado. After high school, Neal toured Europe with “America’s Youth in Concert”. He studied Piano Performance at Missouri Western, Wichita State, and CU Boulder. He has also studied Jazz piano and arranging with world renowned pianist, Art Lande.
Neal was recently nominated for a Henry award for his musical direction of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He’s very excited to be working with the cast and crew of TLC at Candlelight!
